Tested in Norway: How the Nap Pak Arctic R11 Performed in Real Expedition Conditions

When you design gear for extreme environments, there’s only one real benchmark that matters: does it perform when it counts?

Recently, we received feedback from Fraser, part of the team at Glenshee Ski Hire, who took the Nap Pak Arctic R11 on a 6-night, 7-day pulk-hauling expedition across the Hardangervidda plateau in Norway.

This wasn’t a fair-weather test.

The Conditions

  • Night temperatures down to -10°C

  • Gale force winds

  • Frequent whiteout conditions

  • Daily pulk hauling across exposed terrain

In Fraser’s words,“pitching the tent and getting warm was a major factor in keeping morale high.”

The Performance

The Nap Pak Arctic R11 delivered exactly where it needed to:

  • Exceptional warmth: “couldn’t believe it was rated R-11”

  • Comfort after long days hauling

  • Compact and efficient: easy to deflate, roll, and pack straight into a dry sack

  • No unnecessary hassle in cold, high-fatigue conditions

When you're operating in that kind of environment, simplicity and reliability aren’t nice-to-haves:  they’re essential.

The Unexpected Factor: Value

One of the most telling parts of Fraser’s feedback came after the trip:

“I had to look up the price when I got home and was completely surprised… I thought it would be at least twice as much.”

That reaction is exactly where we want to sit: premium performance without the premium price barrier.

Built for Harsh Conditions

Fraser is no casual user. Based in Scotland and working in outdoor environments, he knows what good gear looks like and, more importantly, what it feels like when it’s tested properly.

“As a Scot I am glad we have our own outdoor brand that's producing affordable kit that can perform in adverse conditions beyond our own borders.”

Not just to build gear that works in Scotland, but gear that holds its own anywhere.

The Real Truth

There’s no shortage of technical claims in outdoor gear. But what cuts through is simple:

Real people. Real environments. Real performance.

The Nap Pak Arctic R11 wasn’t built for showroom specs: it was built for trips like this.

And when it performs there, everything else becomes easier.
