What is the Munro V2 designed for?
Munro V2 is a fully featured 3‑layer mountain shell designed for year‑round hillwalking and foul‑weather days, with a focus on storm protection and durability rather than ultralight minimalism.
How waterproof is it?
The jacket uses PROT3X 3‑layer fabric with a 20,000 mm hydrostatic head and fully taped seams for excellent wet‑weather protection in prolonged rain and high winds.
Is the jacket breathable?
Yes. The membrane is rated to 15,000 g/m²/24 h and is supported by long pit‑zips and a two‑way front zip, so you can dump heat quickly on steep climbs or when working hard.
How much does it weigh?
A size Large weighs around 556g, sitting in the “robust mountain shell” category rather than an ultralight packable shell.
Is the hood helmet‑compatible?
Yes. The wired, three‑way adjustable hood is designed to work over a climbing or mountaineering helmet while still cinching down securely when you’re not wearing one.
What pockets and features does it have?
The Munro V2 includes raised harness‑friendly hand pockets, a two‑way YKK water‑resistant front zip, long pit‑zips, an adjustable wired hood, and hem and cuff adjustment for a secure seal in bad weather.
How does the sizing and fit work?
The jacket is cut as a mountain shell with space for mid‑layers, so it will feel roomier than a casual rain jacket; some broader builds may prefer to size up for extra shoulder and chest room.
Is there a women’s version?
Currently Munro V2 is only offered in this fit; feedback from female hillwalkers has highlighted demand for a women’s‑specific equivalent, which is being reviewed for future development.
Is it suitable for summer use and fast‑and‑light trips?
You can use it year‑round, but it really excels in cooler, wetter, windier conditions; for very warm weather or fast‑and‑light running and backpacking, a lighter shell may feel more comfortable.
How sustainable is the jacket?
Munro V2 uses a PFC‑free durable water repellent on its PROT3X 3‑layer fabric, avoiding traditional long‑chain PFCs while maintaining strong waterproof performance; regular cleaning and PFC‑free re‑proofing will also extend its life.
How should I care for and re‑proof it?
Wash the jacket periodically with a technical‑garment cleaner and re‑proof using a PFC‑free spray‑on or wash‑in treatment ], for example Nikwax, following the product instructions, to maintain water beading and breathability.
