Used during recent wild camping
"Used during recent wild camping trip. Great value for money, light and easy to erect. Only slight drawback is it’s a bit short for me - I am 6’ 00” feet hitting end of inner if I stretch right out."
Highlander Respite 1 is designed as a dependable solo wild-camping shelter for UK spring–autumn conditions, prioritising weather protection, durability and value over extreme weight saving.
Using heavier-denier fabrics than many ultralight alternatives (75D flysheet with a 4000mm hydrostatic head and a 5000mm groundsheet), the Respite 1 is intended for regular use on wet ground and exposed hillsides, where reliability and pitch security matter more than saving the last few grams.
The tunnel-style layout provides a stable, low-profile pitch with a practical front porch for wet-weather cooking and kit storage, while the sewn-in groundsheet and taped seams improve protection in prolonged rain.
At under 2kg, it sits firmly in the “robust backpacking” category rather than the ultralight class, offering a more accessible price point for solo backpackers and wild campers who want a straightforward, weather-capable shelter without premium pricing.

"This was bought to replace my much loved Hoolie 2. It's a 2 person tent which can actually fit 2 people and their kit in the generous porch. It's straightforward to put up even for 1 person alone. Although the poles are different lengths they are helpfully colour-coded. It's got a couple of simple features the Hoolie lacked like door tie-backs and a hanging line. I like the option to have the door all mesh by zipping away the inner material - great for admiring the view. My (very) minor grip is the peg and pole bags have fabric ties which you have to knot rather than elasticated ties. I will happily use this for both solo wild camping and campsite camping for 2."
"Great tent, super easy to put with and pegs made from quality material/design. Fits two snuggly."
"I bought this tent for a multi-month hike - have done a test run and setup. It is probably the best tent i have ever owned. The space is PERFECT for me, my gear and my terrier for the 3. 5/4 month hike i have coming up. Most likely a 4 season lite as it does not have a snow skirt. Very easy setup - especially concerning it's buckle and clip system. they come with the strong *triangular* pegs, which hold far better than standard stick/spike pegs (they were very tough to remove from the ground) The only reason its not a full 5 star is because it only has 4 *Corner Guys* attached to /near the pole sleeves - in heavy winds - especially when you *need* to set up side to the wind, might not be very sturdy due to this. Very breathable."
