DESCRIPTION
A traditional military style design compass with luminous swinging dial and magnified glass for accurate readings.
How to use a military lensatic compass — step by step A military lensatic compass has two important markings:
- Index line (fixed black line): The reference mark where you read your bearing in degrees.
- Short luminous line: A glowing reference line on the rotating bezel, used to set a bearing and navigate, especially in darkness.
Using the compass with the sighting lens
1. Raise the rear sight with the magnifying lens.
2. Position the front cover so the sighting wire is upright.
3. Hold the compass near eye level.
4. Look through the rear sight and align the front sighting wire with your target.
5. Look down through the magnifying lens and read the bearing at the fixed index line.
6. Rotate the bezel to align the short luminous line with magnetic north if you want to retain that bearing for navigation.
