Synthetic insulation
All Highlander sleeping bags are filled with a synthetic insulation that holds its warmth and the mummy shape, provides maximum insulation and comfortand offers a great alternative to down, and which arguably perform better in damp conditions than a traditional down sleeping bag.
Our Synthetic sleeping bags are a cheaper alternative to down, don’t require as much care as down bags although they when packed, they are slightly larger. What's great is synthetic sleeping bags do retain most of their insulating properties, even when wet, making them an incredibly durable and effective alternative especially up here in Scotland! With improvments in technology and development, we're making our sleeping bags warmer and the pack size is getting ever closer to that of down sleeping bags.
The lightweight hollowfibre filling we have developed keeps you comfortable and warm overnight without overheating. Alongside 2 way zips, baffles and soft plush linings, our bags will provide that welcome contentment at the end of a hard days trekking.

Temperature Ratings Explained
Sleeping bags show several different temperature ratings. here’s what they mean:
Comfort: The lowest temperature in which an average person, sleeping in a relaxed position, will have a comfortable nights rest. Lower: The lowest temperature in which an average person, sleeping in a curled up position, will not feel cold during the night.
Extreme: This is the lowest temperature the sleeping bag will keep you alive in extreme conditions and should only be used in a last-resort emergency situation. There is still a real risk of frostbite and other cold-related ailments at this level.
Suggested Use: This is the temperature range at which you’ll feel most comfortable
Temperature ratings independently measured in accordance with EN ISO 23537-1: 2016
THESE RATINGS ARE GUIDELINES ONLY
These ratings are measured against an average. Individuals experience sleeping temperatures very differently, which may result in you feeling either hotter or colder than the average while sleeping in the same temperature range.
Many different factors can influence your body temperature inside a sleeping bag, such as how much clothing you’re wearing, if you’re in a tent or not, your body height and weight, how much food you’ve had to eat, the weather conditions while you’re in your sleeping bag, etc. Make sure you know the conditions you’re going to be facing and ensure you have the right sleeping bag for you.
