INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
• Shave off a small amount of magnesium from the block using the striker or blade (enough to cover a penny). Gather tinder and make a small pile next to the magnesium shavings
• Hold the firestarter with the flint at approximately 45° and 2.5cm from the magnesium shavings.
• Run the striker along the full length of the flint so as to create sparks that will ignite the magnesium shavings.
• The magnesium will burn rapidly at 2980°C igniting even damp tinder. Add additional tinder until a steady fire is established.
Magnesium in solid form is safe and will not ignite. Do not store shaved magnesium, prepare shavings only as they are needed.
