Highlander was founded in the 1980s, when exploring the outdoors was seen as an expensive pursuit. We thought otherwise – that enjoying the challenges and beauty of the outdoors should be available to everyone.
Over the years, this ethos has been our North Star as we continually strive to create clothing and equipment that helps everyone to explore their world, their way. 35 years later, this ever-growing passion, and our commitment to producing gear that helps people look good, feel good, and stay safe, has helped Highlander become the brand that it is today.
SINCE 1985FOUNDATIONS
We are a company created by outdoor enthusiasts, for outdoor enthusiasts.
Our founder, Bahram Golzari, has always had a keen love of exploring the mountains of Scotland, which he and his family still have to this day. All the staff have a deep and enduring love for the outdoors, which we pursue in our own ways – whether that is racing downhill through forests on a mountain bike, hiking out to a secluded glen to wild camp or taking to the seas and rivers of Scotland to surf, swim and paddle.
This passion is echoed in our work, as we design the products that we want to use when we go out adventuring. Almost as soon as a new sample comes in, it is claimed by an eager employee for a field test on their weekend adventures.
SINCE 1985SUPPORTING OTHERS
We are committed to supporting other adventurers.
We have sponsored expeditions that have inspired us to create the best gear we can, to better enable others to overcome their own huge challenges. In recent years, we have been lucky enough to collaborate with some incredibly inspiring people!
We kit-sponsored Mark Beaumont on his record-breaking cycle Around the World in 80 Days, and partnered with a trio of brave adventurers who trekked solo and unassisted across the Gobi Desert.
National events.
In 2010 Highlander was appointed the official licensees to the 2012 Olympic Games and in 2013 we were appointed official licensees to the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, both events we are very proud of.
